Tesco has opened its Christmas delivery slots for all supermarket shoppers.
These delivery slots opened at 6am. It comes one week after shoppers who are signed up to a Tesco delivery pass were given early access to Christmas slots. If you're signed up to a delivery pass, you pay a set fee each month for your deliveries, instead of having to pay each time.
It can work out cheaper, depending on if you do a lot of online orders. Tesco charges £4.99 a month for a six-month off-peak delivery pass, or £7.99 a month for a six-month anytime pass. It also has a click and collect option for £2.49 a month. Tesco customers pay £3.99 a month for a 12-month off-peak pass or £6.99 a month for a 12-month anytime pass. Off-peak plans offer deliveries after 3pm.
Tesco has added 60 more delivery vans to its fleet, along with thousands of extra delivery slots, ahead of the busy Christmas period. The supermarket has also increased the capacity of its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, with thousands of extra slots available on Christmas Eve this year.
Tom Denyard, Managing Director of Tesco Online said: “As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we want customers to know that time is running out to sign up for a Delivery Saver Anytime Plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings which go live tomorrow morning.
“We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season. We are also excited to be providing increased capacity with thousands of extra slots available in the fortnight leading up to Christmas Day.
“And there is no better time to sign up to a convenient Delivery Saver plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings. Delivery Saver plans not only give you early access to slots this Christmas, but they can also save you an amazing £176 a year on delivery or collection fees.”
It comes after dozens of Tesco shoppers took to social media to complain about huge queues when Christmas slots opened for delivery pass customers last week. One X user said: "How do @Tesco make such a farce out of booking a Xmas delivery slot? Been queuing since 6am. At 6:02 I logged on to Asda and had 23rd Dec slot checked out in a matter of minutes."
A second shopper shared: "@Tesco Signed in just before 6am, in waiting room for 1 hour and 20 mins, get to your turn to shop, and nothing! Has now put me right back to the beginning of the queue. Whats the point in paying monthly Anytime Slots and no priority Xmas booking?"
