The final ever Gavin and Stacey episode will be a 90 minute special - when we finally find out if Smithy and Nessa got married and maybe even what happened on that fishing trip.
The four main cast members - James Corden, Ruth Jones, Mathew Horne and Joanna Page - have posed up to recreate one of the iconic photos from when the series began 17 years ago. And as the new look photo was released the BBC also teased some details of what will be in the comedy on Christmas Day, as well as confirming the episode will be feature length, a full 30 minutes longer than the last Christmas special in 2019 which was a huge ratings hit.
Revealing some of the lush new festive storyline, the BBC said: "It’s five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened since then.
"In Barry, Bryn’s packing the Picasso in readiness for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their seventeen year marriage and Gwen is behaving most strangely. Nessa’s started a new business venture and Neil the Baby’s about to begin an apprenticeship with his dad.
"Over in Billericay Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practicing his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship.
"Join us on the journey to Barry and Billericay as we catch up with the Shipmans and the Wests for the very last time and maybe find out what exactly did happen on that fishing trip."
The BBC also confirmed the title of the episode will be simply Gavin & Stacey: The Finale and it will air on Christmas Day on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer with a timeslot to be confirmed.
The show's main characters will again be Mathew Horne as Essex boy Gavin and Joanna Page as his Welsh wife Stacey. The show's co-writers Corden and Jones will play Smithy and Nessa.
Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, who play Gavin's parents Mick and Pam, are also back as is Rob Brydon as Uncle Bryn.
Since the show began in 2007, fans have been sharing their theories on the mystery fishing trip involving Uncle Bryn and his nephew Jason but what happened has never been revealed.
Jason reassured his uncle that what happened is "perfectly legal in this country"
In the last Christmas special, Bryn and Jason were finally ready to tell the whole family what happened, but they were interrupted. The episode ended with Nessa on one knee proposing to Smithy. The credits rolled before he gave her an answer.
The 2019 Gavin and Stacey Christmas special was the UK's most-watched scripted TV programme of the 2010s and the most watched TV comedy in 17 years. In total, 17.1 million viewers tuned in to the comeback episode live or on catch-up during the subsequent week, according to the consolidated ratings.
Only sporting events and the 2010 X Factor final were watched by more people in the decade it was made.
