Princess Charlotte is quite clearly the boss when it comes to the Wales siblings. William and Kate's middle child takes charge when it comes to overseeing her brothers George and Louis - and it means she also takes on an important role at major royal events.

Christopher Anderson, author of The King, says there is no doubt that Charlotte is very much the leader of the trio, especially when it comes to her younger brother Louis. "Big sister Charlotte is the 'Louis-whisperer' in the family," he told Fox News Digital. "She is best equipped to get her rambunctious little brother to behave when – as the youngest child in the family often does – Louis goes off the rails to get attention."

One such occasion was at the 2024 Trooping the Colour - which marked Kate's first public outing since sharing news of her cancer diagnosis. While little Louis once again stole the show with his funny antics, Charlotte was seen trying to keep the young prince in check as the national anthem played and the royals stood to attention.

Body language expert Judi James told the Mirror at the time: "As Kate and her three children watched from the open window, it was Kate standing at the back of the group while Charlotte beamed down with an expression of pride, even appearing to mutter to Louis to ensure he stood to attention as she did while the National Anthem was being played."

Judi further pointed to Charlotte's behaviour at King Charles Coronation celebrations as a perfect example of her position within the family. Having guided her younger brother Louis during the ceremony itself, she oversaw George's behaviour at the Coronation concert the following day (Louis was absent, likely because it was past his bedtime).

"Charlotte's deep, perfect curtsy as the King walked past in the royal box [at the Coronation concert] was only one body language sign that she is becoming a standout star of the royal firm," Judi told the Mirror. "She snapped into duty as royal prefect as soon as she sat down, waving her bangle and her flag at her brother George to show him how he should use them during the concert."

Judi continued: "Charlotte and George were on their feet dancing to Lionel Richie, but it was when William walked out on stage that Charlotte really took over, looking back down the row of seats to check everyone had seen her dad, and then pointing her flag at the stage to make sure they looked. When George didn't react enough, she even stood up, jabbing her flag in William's direction again and shouting at her brother excitedly to pay attention."

It's a big job for the Princess with two brothers to watch over. Speaking after the Coronation itself, Prince William remarked that Charlotte was feeling "tired" after her big sister duties. "She's very tired after yesterday," he shared. "She's having a quiet day at home. It was making sure her little brother behaved himself."

While Charlotte has been known to reprimand George and Louis, she clearly adores her brothers. "It's so sweet seeing the three [siblings] together and particularly Charlotte being super protective of her little brother," Sophie Mirman, founder of the British childrenswear brand Trotters , previously told PEOPLE .

Charlotte and Louis have always shared a special connection. In a photo released by William and Kate for Charlotte's third birthday, she was pictured cradling a baby Louis in her lap and placing a sweet kiss on her sleeping brother's head. The young princess also doted on her baby brother in portraits from Louis' christening in 2018. While everyone else looks at the camera and smiles, the proud big sister is focused only on Louis as she lovingly gazes at him and holds his hand.

It's by no means one sided. Proud dad William previously shared how Louis idolises his sister as he spoke about their morning routine. "Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything," he said. "She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing."
