Lidl has unveiled its very own big red Christmas cola truck - and it will be going on tour in just a few days time.
The truck is based on the Lidl own-brand Freeway cola drink, and will visit nine cities across the UK, starting from November 14. Some of the places it will stop at include Dundee, Wrexham and Wolverhampton - you can find a full list of locations below.
At each stop, Lidl will give away over 2,000 present boxes, food shops and food samples. Once at the tour stop, visitors can also submit a Christmas wish and Lidl says it will grant a number of them. To mark the launch of its Freeway truck, Lidl has created a new Christmas advert, starring Nick, who brings the truck to life.
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, said: “Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get right into the heart of them this year. By touring nine stops across the country, we'll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true. Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun.”
It comes after Coca-Cola also announced its Christmas Truck Tour is back for 2024. For every person that attends the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour, the equivalent of a meal will be donated on their behalf. Coca-Cola aims to donate the equivalent of up to a total of one million meals via FareShare this festive season.
For those unable to visit the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck in person, a promotion with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coca-Cola Original Taste will invite fans to scan on-pack QR codes for the chance to win thousands of festive gifts, including pre-loaded £200 "Festive Feast" gift cards.
Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour fans can follow announcements about the schedule which will be made over the coming weeks on Instagram @CocaColaGBI on X/Twitter @CocaCola_GB. It comes after Lidl announced plans to open ten new stores across the country before Christmas.
The ten new stores will include locations like Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon, and Stirchley in Birmingham. Three will open in London alone, including Hoxton, Forest Gate and Caterham, with Lidl GB planning to cement a "strong foothold" in the capital. Lidl will also reopen three existing stores that have either been relocated or refurbished and extended, among them its Chessington location, Connah’s Quay and Dagenham Heathway.
