Tulisa Contostavlos has dropped one of her fellow I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! co-stars in the deep by revealing someone has products with them that violate the rules.
The 36-year-old N-Dubz icon is one of the 10 original stars taking part in the 2024 season of ITV's long-running reality show. And on Thursday, viewers will see Love Island contestant Maura Higgins and the Reverend Richard Coles join the cast as late castaways.
When taking part in I'm A Celeb, the contestants are denied all the comforts of home as they have to rough it in the jungle and get by eating simple foods and basic rations. While trials and challenges can offer the camp the chance to win more elaborate meals, they are left with simple items like beans and rice if they fail to succeed.
However, Tulisa lets slip that one of the fellow celebrities have smuggled some contraband items with them - but is unaware that there is more than one person breaking the rules. During Thursday night's highlights show, fans see that radio host Dean McCullough managed to get tea bags past the show bosses and he is able to make some hot drinks for camp.
He manages to sneak a bag from the contraband supply and drops it into the morning’s supply of hot water. When the water is served to the other contestants, boxer Barry McGuigan is alarmed by the colour of it. Aware of the truth, Coronation Street star Alan Halsall quips: “We got a bit of mud in the kettle but if you try it, it’s not too bad.”
Looking unsure, Barry tentatively sips the suspicious looking water, before realising it tastes like tea. He gives his co-stars a wink and declares: “Fantastic!” The three; Dean, Alan and Barry then cheers: “To whatever today has in store!”
Their rule breaking catches up with them, however, as TV host Melvin Odoom later has to undertake a challenge which will let the camp enjoy delicious cupcakes if he passes. He is teamed with Maura and Richard and succeeds in securing a number of treats for the camp.
However, the group soon find out that they are being penalised for their rule breaking and they are permitted half of the treats that Melvin won for them all. Returning to camp and updating his fellow campmates, he reads out the note which reveals there will be a jungle amnesty, where they must “bring all remaining contraband to the Bush Telegraph to avoid further punishment.”
A giggly Dean eventually makes his way to the Bush Telegraph to give up his tea bag contraband - only for Tulisa to then reveal that she had some contraband of her own. The I Need You singer revealed another campmate passed her some seasoning to spice up the bland food. But she had been too scared to use it - but handed in the contraband after Dean gave up his remaining teabags.
As the other campmates questioned who passed the seasoning to Tulisa, Melvin confessed he was the one to give it to her. While none of the celebrities appeared annoyed about the breach of rules, Coronation Street star Alan Halsaal seemed annoyed they never had the chance to use the seasoning.
