The BBC and Netflix have confirmed a second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is officially in the works.

Season one became a breakout hit earlier this year after airing on the channel and iPlayer in July and internationally on the streamer in August.

Led by Wednesday star Emma Myers as young investigator Pip Fitz-Amobi, her first dark delve into amateur detective work saw her unspool the mystery of a missing girl who disappeared some years ago.

Based on Holly Jackson’s series of bestselling crime novels, book two, Good Girl, Bad Blood, involves another missing person.

Having cracked the case, Pip is determined to give crime-solving a rest with Max Hasting’s (played by Henry Ashton) trial coming up when key witness Jamie Reynolds disappears without a trace.

Lead actress Myers is confirmed to return as Pip while Zain Iqbal is also back as her friend and love interest Ravi Singh.

Zain Iqbal and Emma Myers will both return for season two

The first season scored rave reviews from critics and fans when it aired this summer so season two is guaranteed to be another addictive mystery.

The New Statesman called the first season “deliciously old-fashioned television”, writing: “This BBC series is delightful, knowing, involving, non-challenging, a touch silly. Suspend your disbelief, lie back and enjoy.”

And The Independent described the series as a “moreish, twisty mystery is like Famous Five meets Pretty Little Liars”.

“It’s a combination that shouldn’t really work on paper,” they added. “But will have you hooked all the same.”

In response to the season two news, author Jackson, who will join as co-writer, said in a statement: “I am BEYOND thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show!
